After months of wanting to, I finally went and bought my first hookah. It’s a Nammor Euphrates 28 inch, 1 hose hookah which is hand crafted and shipped from Egypt. I also took advantage of a deal the Website was offering and got a free 18 inch, 1 hose mini hookah. I consider this event a win. It apparently takes 3 business to arrive after it ships so I should receive after Wildwood. Anyone is welcome to come smoke it with us when we do. My favorite part of this: It will pay for itself after the 4th time we use it because going to the Hookah lounge usually cost around $25/person each time.
Sneak peek into the next post: I rage on a recent decision of the MLS. Probably going to be a short one.
Just because the word “Socialism” is in the full name of the Nazi party (that’s the National Socialist party, in case you were wondering) doesn’t mean that Nazis were socialist. The Nazis were in fact Fascists. And fascism was a European political fad created to counter communism (little ‘c’ communism, not big ‘C’ Communism) and is on the complete opposite side of the political spectrum.
My first post will in fact be something on the brighter side. As the title states this is My World Cup 2010 Superlatives which is based solely on the games that I watched. So, first Tumblr post. Commence.
-Best Name- Siphiwe TshabalalaC’mon. How do you not say the South African Midfielder’s name without smiling?
-Best Hair- Carles Puyol
need I say more?
-Best Accessorizer- Siphiwe Tshabalala.
Tshabalala earns his 2nd mention because of that awesome South Africa hair band he used to tie his dreds back
-Biggest Surprise- Switzerland beating Spain
Looking back, this loss for the Spanish was nothing but a small speed bump on the road to their 1st World Cup Victory. But at the time, no one thought losing to the Swiss was possible for them.
-Most Helpful- Landon Donovan
Up until the actual tournament Donovan rarely took the shot when the opportunity presented itself. In the World Cup Qualifiers and International friendlies that I watched he often tried to pass the ball to some one who he thought had the better shot, whether they did or not.
-Best Ink- Tim Cahill
Polynesian Tribal Tattoo = Awesome. But only when you have actual Polynesian roots, like Mr. Cahill
-Best Looking- tie between Tim Crouch and Wayne Rooney
Who doesn’t like the tall, pale, and skinny kid with enormous teeth, or the other guy who looks kinda like an ogre?
-Biggest Diva- Christiano Ronaldo
-Worst Actor- Christiano Ronaldo
Do these need explanation?
-Most Underrated (Team)- Uruguay
-Most Underrated (Player)-Thomas Mueller
The Kid is 20 and got the Golden Boot for this World Cup. He pretty much dominated most of the defenses that he went against.
-Most Overraterd (Team)- Portugal
-Most Overrated (Player)- Honestly, I don’t really have one here. Most of the superstars played poorly.
-Best Facial Hair- Oguchi Onyewu
I couldn’t find a picture of it, but before the Round of 16 “Gooch” had a beard that I could only dream of.
-Best Keeper Performance- Vincent Enyeama vs Argentina
He blocked three shots from Messi with unbelievable saves. I don’t care Nigeria didn’t move on or even win a game, I was impressed.
-Most School Spirit- Luis Suarez
If you didn’t watch Uruguay vs Ghana I’m sure you heard about the game saving, red card earning handball which led to a missed PK by Asamoah Gyan and an Uruguay victory by Penalty Kick Shootout. FIFA debated whether to suspend Suarez for the rest of the tournament for his purely instinctive swat at the ball. And for about 60 seconds, he was the most nervous person in the world after being sent off. But as soon as the ball hit the crossbar and bounced over the net he was the happiest and most relieved.
-Worst Referee- Koman Coulibaly
-What I look forward to most in 2014 - The development of 20 year olds Thomas Mueller and Jozy Altidore. Mueller was a force to be reckoned with and Altidore single-handedly got the U.S. into the Cup. 4 years from now they will dominate.
